Busy Week

It's been an incredibly busy week, and we're glad that it's finally the weekend.

First, Ann had her first Italian doctor's appointment. It was an interesting and somewhat funny experience (pounds vs kilograms shouldn't confuse doctors). Anyway, the pregnancy is going well, and the doctor said that everything's good.

Next, we finally had our new kitchen installed. Because Italian's treat kitchens like furniture (moving them from one house to another), we had to get an entirely new kitchen. This included cabinets, sink, stove, and everything. We're excited about this because this means that we're only a few days from moving in. It's a modest kitchen by Italian standards, and by some American standards, but we're happy. A photo is below.

We also had our telephone line installed (friends and family can send an e-mail for our new number), successfully shopped for our house, set up an internet and sattelite tv account, and generally ran around like mad-men. Ann is also learning how to drive a manual transmission car. She's becoming a real expert on our little Fiat.

Throgh it all, Ann had time to visit the Parco del Ticino. This is a natural reserve and park on the Ticino river. It has beautiful hiking, biking, and walking trails. The trails run thorugh quaint towns and near historic churches and sites.

Ciao Bedells! Greeting from PA - the land of brotherly love! Sorry we missed you - we got back from SC on July 6th. John - we were very sorry to hear about your mom - our deepest sympathy to all of you. What a whirl wind the past few months have been! Zoe is missing Thomas already. She has asked EVERY time we walk past your house when she can play with him again. Guess we'll have to come to Italy - talk about the world's most expensive playdate! Christine picked up a package from your front porch yesterday - not sure where to forward it too =) Manga! Manga! in the new kitchen!
Italy looks beautiful in your photos. Can't wait to see more!
Talk to you soon! Best wishes!
Laura, George, Leila, Zoe & Michael.
